Things that I was going to use, but never did...

Some things that I was going to use for my type book, but in the end didn't. I still think they are interesting though. They represent detailed text frames. Some others are just details...

Found inspiration.

The next few images are of those that I used for inspiration towards my graphics final, dealing with the print and flash..

inspiration for the creative mind.

Since I am obsessed with anything mixed media, I thought this was a bit intriguing.

FInal Movie

Have a few things to fix but here is my final.

Worst Case Scenario Topic

My topic for our final project in Graphics Two is going to be from the book The WORST-CASE SCENARIO Survival Handbook: Weddings… and the topic is..

How to Stop a Bad Toast

• Employ Humor
o Call on the same techniques hecklers use at comedy clubs: loud, insincere laughter, throwing food; and narky commentary (“Are you going to finish this toast by their first anniversary?). Acting drunk may also help to.

• Cue the Band
o Ask the wedding planner or an esteemed family member to tell the band leader to interrupt with rousing music to drown the toast.

• Wait for a pause, the execute the “slow clap”
o Start a loud, slow clap – approximately one clap per second. After about 15 seconds, other will join in, until the entire room is clapping for the toast maker. Continue clapping until he leaves the stage.

• Talk over the toast.
o Grab another microphone from the band or deejay and say, “Thanks so much for those warm wishes. Let’s move on and _______ (fill in the blank with ‘raise a toast,’ ‘cut the cake,’ ‘dance’, ‘hear from Grandpa)’.

Shift Happens

India has more honor kids, than America has kids.
We are preparing kids for jobs, using technologies that haven't been invented, in order to solve problems we don't even know about yet!
If myspace was a country it would be the 5th biggest.
The number of google searches that has increased since 2006.
The text message one was CRAZY!
During the course of me watching this presentation, 67 babies were born in the US... wow.

Even though this video was mind blowing, it freaked me out a little bitt. I don't like thinking about things like that, its un-real to me, and its hard to comprehend. They did a great job of designing the video, and how they displayed all the information.

Creativity is being strangled

This week’s video is an insightful talk by copyright authority Larry Lessig about the creativity blossoming from access to content on the internet, and the conflict with copyright law which hasn’t caught up this new form of creativity - and the implications.

I found this interesting comment on a Blog talking about the speech.
"creativity is being strangled by the law Technology offers the opportunity to revive the old read/write culture. It is amateur but not amateurish culture. Remix --it's not piracy --its re creating to make something different. This is a literacy for this generation Copyright law has not responded with common sense as it had to do in the past when technology changes challenged established law—e.g. over the issue of the ‘trespass’ of airplanes over land k e n c h a d consulti Artists can choose the kind of re-use their work enables. That is what Creative Commons is about We live life against the law in a new age of prohibitions --this is dangerous. Type in the sky was really interesting.
It's amazing how people think up all these different concepts of how type forms. I never thought that you could look up in the sky and the way buildings are placed could make letters in the sky.
The Lettering in Brooklyn are super interesting also, the fact that all those typography ideas came from brooklyn is amazing.

Debbie Millman

Debbie Millman is not only a genious when it comes to disscusing graphic design and how it made itself into our culture, but she also has a comical comedian side to her. She has been in the design business for more than half of her life. She is a partner in Sterling Brands, and has her own radio show where she has many famous artist come and share their stories. She has ceveloped many designs for many different products that we would see in any store. She has her own website.. debbiemillman.com, and is writting two books at the moment. In Design Matters she does a great job of explaining to people how the best way is to get to point A to point B. And she talks to a few different people about where they are in their design experience, but Patrick Coyne is being asked questions by callers that can call in and ask him, which I think is awesome!!!

John Maeda

I found John Maedas short video veryyy interesting.
Not to mention that his sense of humour kept my attention the whole time, but after watching that video it makes me really really want to read the book. I mean I looked over the link and skimmed through it, but I really want to sit down and read it. I loveddd just his whole concept on life, specially the part about how the letters M I T are in the same sequence in both Complexity and Simplicity. So smart.
My favorite part has to be when he was talking about tofu and then he talks about how he grew up around making it, its probably what inspired him to design that building. I thought that was hilarious.

fun posters.

www.vector.tutsplus.com/news/50-high-impact-illustrated-vector-posters/

Speech questions.

George W. Bush is speaking about the bombing in Iraq, and why this is happening. It's really important to me, because the love of my life and best friend was in Iraq for a year.
The speech is very serious, but informing at the same time.
Its feeling is sadness, worried, confused, quiet but loud at the same time.
The tone is stressed, loud, and strong.
It makes me feel worried and concerned about everyone that is involved or is about to be involved even though they don't want to be. My heart goes out to the families who have friends and loved ones over across the country. The men and women who defend our free country.
George Bush was the oldest of six children of George Bush who served as the 41st president of the United States. Bush  was the first person since Benjamin Harrison in 1888 to become president despite having lost the nationwide popular vote. He was narrowly reelected in 2004, defeating Democratic challenger John Kerry. Before assuming the presidency of the United States, Bush was a businessman and served as governor of Texas 1995-2000.

Goooood is......

I found the different links all very interesting. All the videos and magazine articles all relate back to what is going on in the world right now. The advertisements that come up on the sides, had some pretty cool animated videos. Overall its a pretty interesting website.

Adobe Fonts

On the Adobe website, I found it very interesting when I clicked on graphic effects and watched the video about how type isn't only for words and reading but it is for moving backgrounds and things like that.
Fight Night and Las Vegas was awesome. I would love to learn how to make text move the way it does in that animation.
Kinetic Typography is AWESOME!!!! I cant wait to learn how to do this stuff!!!

importance of writing.

I hate writing.
period.

Some people can write and write and write, and never get sick of it. I am the exact opposite. But what I have found when writing is that it is a creative art form in itself. It expresses the way you are feeling or thinking in not a visual aspect but in a verbal way that makes you use your imagination so you have visual pictures and images in your head that you have created. I find that when I am writing I not only start to think up other ideas, but it helps me with looking at and recognizing things in a way I usually wouldn't.
